Aspen T.R.E.E Summer Internship is a hands on, volunteer based educational experience targeted at people interested in sustainable agriculture, educating / inspiring youth, nonprofit management, or folks interested making significant shifts towards sustainable living in their lives.

2 of 4 2010 interns  planting trees!

The internship is divided into three major components that overlap through the summer:

  1. “Hands- on” work and learning on sustainable systems in the field (by far the bulk of the internship);
  2. Educating the public and students at the farmer’s market and during courses based on learning’s received;
  3. Administrative (business) work “behind the scenes” of nonprofit management.

Specific projects and tasks include garden / greenhouse construction and maintenance, high altitude sustainable farming, management and installation of integral livestock (chickens / turkeys, goats, sheep) systems, management of farmers market booth, construction of natural “earthen” buildings and structures, educating and inspiring children towards ecological living, and Permaculture systems design.

No prior ecological experience is necessary, though a positive and optimistic attitude, honesty, a strong willingness to learn and be challenged, and a willingness to work long hours and early mornings at times is required.
